Sending a picture or Requesting one? What's more effective?

Hey guys!
So I sent Robert Pattinson a nice, 1 paged, letter on how awesome he is {love} and at the end I asked for a signed picture. That was about 4 months ago. Now usually I wouldn't worry about it because the dude must be getting thousands of letters a day. However, once I started noticing that people were getting his autographed picture in 1-2 months after writing him I started to question my method (and I was a little jealous....okay A LOT

)
So should I have sent a picture along with my letter or am I just being a peter panic?
Thanks

It can make a difference, especially when you write via venue. Sometimes celebrities just don't have any pictures to send you. Personally I always include my own picture for them, just in case. Sometimes I get that picture signed back and sometimes they will send me one of their own.

I always send at least one item for them to sign, just in case they don't have one. If they still send me a photo AND sign my item...GREAT! But I don't expect the celeb to provide one. Did you make sure and send a SASE? Maybe that's whay you haven't gotten a reply.

Hi Ejm1059! ;)
Welcome to Fanmail.biz! {clap}
Don't worry too much, I'm pretty sure you'll hear from Rob soon. {thumb2} When I wrote to him, I didn't send a photo either so he sent me a 4x6" signed photo.

There hasn't been any new successes from him for a month (I think) now so yours will probably be send out with the next batch.
I rarely, if ever (only via venue though), send my own photos and I've never had any problems at all. So you don't have to send photos, most celebrities (including Rob) have photos to send to fans.
Good luck & let us know when you hear from Rob!!

great said lizanne! yes but when you send only via venue THEN you have to send you own photos,as the celeb/band most likely dont have a photo of their own..but in other cases(fanmail to their fanaddress)most celebs do have photos they sign/pre sign and send out to us fans
good luck! /Georgios

I usually send a photo, but that is mainly because I want it to be from a specific movie.

Thanks guys for your replies

If only I was a little more patient. For now I'm going to keep sending letters and requesting pictures. Then I'll start sending my own pictures
