Sending Out of The U.S

Hey :D

So I really want to write to some actors out of the U.S (Mostly the U.K ;-) ). However I have never sent anything beyond the States and I'm not sure how many stamps or what kind of stamps I need. Will I still be able to put the letter in the mail or do I need to drop it off at a post office?

Thanksx100 :mrgreen:

You would need some UK stamps or some IRCs to send for return postage. You could probably buy some UK stamps off some members on here since they aren't really available to buy in post offices and such. ;) I think it would be best to send from the post office instead of your mailbox. Never tried sending an international request just from the mailbox...have no idea if it works. :lol: But hope this helps a bit. :D

Thanks Classikmetal2008 {up}

Now this going to be a silly questions (seeing that I've been here for awhile.) What are IRCs?

No problem. :) IRCs are International Reply Coupons. They are pretty tough to find here in the states though...well at least I am. haha So...that's always another option for sending overseas. You can include about 2 -4 (?) depending on the size of the envelope along with your request. If your post office doesn't have them at all, you can also just include a few bucks along with your requests. That works as well for international requests. ;)

I send international mail from my mailbox and it works just fine. Just remember that you need to put the right amount of postage on the letter TO the celebrity.

Sending just a letter/ up to one ounce is 0.94 in stamps as apposed to the 0.42 in the US.

You can get specifics at usps.com and then click on calculate postage.

Hope this helped.

Thanks Boss C :D

So usually how many stamps would you use if you were sending to the U.K? I'm guessing you need the air mail stamp as well.

I usually write International on my letter but I don't use airmail stamps.

Stamps to mail it depends on the size of the envelope. What size are you sending?

If it is smaller than a 8X10
up to one ounce (letter and SASE) 0.94
two ounces is 1.74

Larger than 8X10 starts at 1.20 and goes up

Let me know if you need more help. {up}

Thank you guys for your willingness to help :mrgreen:

My SASEs are usually 13x10 (in inches)

So a lOR+SASE= $1.20+ worth of stamps?

And where do I write International on your SASE

I'm glad to help. {thumb2}

"lOR+SASE= $1.20+ worth of stamps?" What size envelope do you put it all in? Do you fold your SASE and put it in a smaller envelope or do you use a bigger envelope? If your envelope is a 13X10, yes, you would need at least 1.20, but I think it would actually be 2.00.

On my envelope TO the celebrity in another country, I write "International" under my return label and underline it.
