Hi every one,
That's a few weeks I'm in this hobby.
All I want to know from the users is: have you ever succeded without sending a SASE?
How many stars pay the postage?
I think that the coasts of the fan mail are covered by the pubblicists and that IRCs and SASEs are almost useless.
What do you think?

Most people on the forum agree that sending a SASE to cover the postage is polite and makes it convenient for the celebrity.

However, there are stars that respond without one. We do not provide lists of those individuals so don't ask. Do the research. Up at the top of the page is a "search" button. Look up the person you want to write and see what they have done in the past.

Yes. All my successes have been without SASE - the funny thing is, the times I have chosen to include an SASE, I've never gotten anything back from those celebrities
In my country there's no way of getting IRC's or international stamps, so I just send a SAE - it's something at least.

There are some stars who are kind enough to pay postage for their fans. However, we won't mention names as they will just be abused/spammed.

This is definitely not true in the case of all celebrities. Alot of them will not reply to you unless you pay postage.

You said IRCs and SASEs are "worthless", that doesnt need any explanation other than "you're wrong".

As for "costs of fanmail being covered by publicists", I dont even know where you get that from.

The part I bolded is ludicrous, you obviously have no idea how business works.

Yes the companies produce pics and photos for publicity, but them paying for postage is NOT part of their business plan (obviously some pay, but not all, and even those that do pay dont pay every time). Do you actually realise how fast postage costs can rack up? Some of the top names would end up costing anywhere upto £5000 a WEEK posting stuff out, thats £260,000 a year, or in other words, over a quarter of a million pounds. How is this "next to nothing", even when compared to money they INVEST elsewhere in advertising campaigns? An advertising campaign is an investment, it leads to increased turnover (or thats the plan). Paying £250,000 a year to post signed pics to fans is essentially a "throwaway", there is no return on it, its not an investment, and therefore doesnt often happen, and shouldnt anyway.

Seriously, if you dont understand things, dont post about them.

And yes, you said "almost useless" about SASE/IRC, but you're still ridiculously wrong.

if you collect autographs it doesn't mean you are a show biz top manager...
the autographs are sent by Management Agencies that every year invest an amount of money in this kind of goodies...
