Shipping outside of the US (UK)

Hey,
How many regular US (forever) stamps would have to go on (roughly) a 6X9 and a 9X12 envelope to send to the UK from the US. Also, how much does it cost to send it back? How many euros would one enclose in the envelopes to cover the shipping cost. Another thing: what's the difference between pounds and euros? Are both accepted in England?
Thanks,
JDeppFan

Hi JDeppFan,
As far as I know in the UK they only accept pounds and not Euros.
As for how much you will need to include on your envelopes, it really has a lot to do with weight more so than the size of the envelope. However the size does have some importance.
You can check the following link from the USPS of a guide to sending to the UK. Scroll down to "First Class international - Large Envelope (Flats)":

Sending to the Uk from the US depends on how much it weighs.
For the 6X9:
If it weighs under one ounce is will be 0.94 (about the weight of a letter and a 9X12 SASE)
If it weighs between 1 and 2 ounces it is 1.74
For the 9X12
If it weighs one ounce is will be 1.20
If it weighs between 1 and 2 ounces it is 2.00
As for from the Uk to the US, I only have a vague idea:
I put .81 in UK stamps on my 6X9 SASE and it comes back fine.
Hope this helped. {thumb2}

Euros arent accepted in England. 1 forever stamp should be enough for the 6x9 envelope as long as it includes a letter, photo and an envelope. Any more id send 2 stamps.
Take a look at this:
http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/cont ... tId=400036
I think its between 56p and 81p for a letter to be sent back to the USA which is around 2-3 2nd class stamps.
Sorry for the confusion - someone might have to check Ive said this right {thumb2}

Are you talking about US forever stamps or Uk forever stamps?
US forever stamps are curretly worth only 0.42 . You need at least 0.94 to send
anything to the UK.

Thanks for the advice!
BossC: Where do you acquire British stamps? I've been looking online but can't figure out where to get them. I think it'd be easier and cheaper than sending IRCs.

I traded with a member here. Check the for sale/trade forum you might be able to find a few people willing to trade. {thumb2}
