I've been reading the stickys but i still have a few questions. Where do I get these IRCs? I'm in the US wanting to write to people in the UK. I'm kind of confused about the whole process....if there's anyone from the US willing to give me a general overview of the steps you take? Thanks.

Hi!
I'm in the US, and I'll try to help you a bit with what I do.
You're supposed to get IRCs at a post office, but none around me sell them. So, what I do is go to a local stamp and coin dealer, and get stamps that way for England.
Then, I write my letter, address the envelope to the person, and enclose another envelope with the English stamps (this is your SASE).
Then mail and wait.
Hope that helped.

Oh I see thank you, so the IRC can be substituted for english stamps?

Yes.
IRC stands for International Reply Coupon.
I've tried for a few years to find them, and I can't get them anywhere local. Plus, they are expensive - I got one once in New York City, but not in my area.
What the celeb does when you send an IRC is to exchange it for a stamp. If you're sending a photo and envelope larger than a 5x7 you need to send 2 or 3 IRCs.
