How many stamps for UK to US?

I have sent out quite a few requests in the last couple months and have gotten nervous thinking I haven't put enough postage on my SASE's.
How many UK stamps should go on an envelope 3oz(85 grams) or less? I have been using 2 or 3 on my SASE's and have gotten one back but didnt know it it was a fluke.
Suggestions?
