I've never done anything like this before.. I started one to Russell Brand and never got round to sending it but my cousin found my letter and sent it off as a surprise and got a reply.

I'm just new to the whole thing.. I live in Ireland and wondered just what I needed to send for a celebrity in the U.S.. Would I need american stamps? If so where could I get them?? and how many would I put on the SASE? I'm not quite sure what IRC's are, but would I need them?

Also how many stamps would I need to put on the main envelope for it to get to america?

I've read most of the threads but can't piece the information together.

Also do you need both stamps and IRC's? or which are better?

Thankyou. {??}

Hi iCarly. Welcome to fanmail.biz and autograph collecting!

I'm just new to the whole thing.. I live in Ireland and wondered just what I needed to send for a celebrity in the U.S..
What you need is to get your letter a SSAE or a SAE with enough IRCs and a photo if you wish. Pop all these into another envelope to send to the US

Would I need american stamps?
You can ether use american stamps or IRCs but i recommend using stamps if you can get hold of them as it saves the hassle of the celeb exchanging the IRCs. Its best to pay postage because its more polite and your more likely going to receive a reply

If so where could I get them??
Check out http://www.fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic ... 17&t=30702. Click on the website. Forever stamps are the best to buy so it can be sent back

and how many would I put on the SASE?
If your sending a regular envelope (C5) then 3 forever stamps would be enough.

I'm not quite sure what IRC's are, but would I need them?
IRCs are International Reply coupons which are what you pay for just like stamps. If you cant get hold of stamps, you should include these in your envelopes so the celebrity exchanges them to stamps in their country. Check out this thread for more info: http://www.fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic ... 17&t=14171

Also how many stamps would I need to put on the main envelope for it to get to america?
Its best to get it weighed at the post office when you send it off. They will give you an accurate price based on size and weight. I would say it would be 2 first class stamps but i would put 3 on to be on the safe side. Also it depends if you live in Ireland or Northen Ireland because i think Ireland use their own stamps, not UK stamps?

I've read most of the threads but can't piece the information together.
Dont worry - i had the same problem when i first started on here.

Also do you need both stamps and IRC's? or which are better?
Just one or the other is needed. Stamps are better as ive mentioned.

Feel free to ask any more questions!!

Hi, and welcome to Fanmail.biz!

You'd need $0.94 for an average envelope to be mailed from the US to UK or $1.14 if you are including cardboard backing. I would include about two or three IRCs though if you can't get hold of American stamps.

Any more questions you may have feel free to ask.

Happy collecting and best of luck!

Phoebe :D
