What happens if there isn't correct postage on the SASE?

Hi

About a month ago, I sent some letters from the UK, to the US. On my SASE were American Stamps which were able to cover the return back to me.

However, I have only just learnt recently about the US postage increase on May 11, and the postage I put on the SASES wouldn't be enough to cover the increase, should the celebrity reply to me.

So I am wondering if anyone knows what happens if there isn't enough postage and if there is a chance I could still receive my reply.

This may be quite an obvious question, but I am really nervous and worried about it. Thank you!

If you used American Forever stamps im pretty sure they cover the postage even if it increases. You might have to check with someone else though {up}

As EastendersFan said if you used Forever stamps (with the liberty bell) you should be fine.

If no, then you may be sent a slip in the post saying that you need to pay a surcharge as the sender hasn't payed the complete postage. So you can still pick it up anyway. :)

Hopefully it should be fine, let us know how it goes!

There are pretty much two options:
1) returned to the sender if there is a return address
2) send it on to you and have you pay the extra postage

I wouldn't worry about it. I once got back one of my SASE that was .23 short!

If you used Forever stamps, it should be fine. Did you use stamps with a brown Liberty Bell on them? They'd say Forever on them if you did. ;-)

If not, then the worst thing that will happen, is you'll probably have to pay a few cents extra when you get the package (meaning drive to your post office to pay, if it's delivered to your house). I wouldn't worry.

You could get an RTS, but you'll most likely have to just pay extra. Sometimes the post office doesn't even make you pay, and just lets the price pass through without a problem. :)

The star usually adds postage. But if they don't they just send it back and ask for you to pay. That's what happens to me :)

Seeing how your situation was after the fact I'm assuming, the postal service will most likely will not charge you for the extra postage. The celebrity might even pay for the extra postage, many do! {up} There is a chance you might get a "postage due" stamp on you return envelope, with the amount you owe the postal service, but I doubt this will happen. This doesn't happen very often.

Like everyone else has said.. If you use Forever Stamps it should be fine {up}

If not then you will have a slip from the Post Office through your door saying that you have to pay extra postage.

It depends. I once recieved a letter with a sticker on it saying postage due, but because I'm in Germany and the letter came from the US, I didn't have to pay.
