I sometimes send a silver sharpie with my requests. Especially when I'm sending dark pics as most of the celebs sign with black pens. This is how I do it: I send a "normal request" and if I get my - let's say dark - pics back signed with a dark pen (Matt G e.g.) I sometimes send out another request with a silver sharpie. Matt was kind enough to even send it back to me :) Next month I'm going to send off a VV request to German singer Sasha - also with a silver sharpie cos of the same reason {thumb2}

But you're right, it can become really expensive. Especially if you don't get your pens back. So I usually don't send any pens with my requests but light pics 8)

Hello,

No I would never send a pen to a celebrity. I don't feel there is any need to do so. The celebrity will have their own pens, plus I have never had any problems with not being able to make out the signature. Maybe some of the pictures you are referring to were just too dark for the ink to show properly, so my advice would be not to send a picture with a dark background {up} It's up to you if you want to send your own pen, but like others have said it would cost more, and you probably won't get it returned. I would personally feel really cheeky asking the celebrity to use my own pen, like a diva demanding it because their pen isn't good enough :lol: But that's just me! So no I would never send my own pen, but it's up to you if you want to!

I can bet there will be at least 10 pens ready when the celebrities are signing autographs, so I wouldn't ever reccommend sending a pen. The 10 pens are probably different types.
Example:
When I sent to James Earl Jones, I sent 4 pictures. He signed 2 of them in a silver sharpie, but they smudged, so he used a fineliner for the other 2. True story.

Sometimes when I write via venue I send a pen, because several times it happened that the actor didn't have a pen and signd with (don't know the English word - ballpen?), but here are two examples:

Peter Facinelli: http://www.mystic-knights.de/twilight/peter_4.jpg the surface of the photo is scratched because of the pen he used

Victor Webster: http://www.mystic-knights.de/mutantx/victor.jpg again what you can see in the right bottom corner is mostly the white of the photo-paper, because the color is scratched away

I'm lucky I work in a lab and we need these kind of pens for writing on plastic or glas and nobody complains when I take the "older" ones with me.
