Canadians... help needed!

Hi guys, I am fairly new to living in Canada so im never quite sure how many stamps to use. Normally I send a stamped hard backed A4/letter size envelope in a mailer bag. How many stamps should i put on the envelope and can they be any standard stamps?
Also, where is the best, cheapest place for 8.5 x 11 or similar size prints? I used to use Snapfish which were incredibly cheap, but delivery to Canada can take up to 30 days. Yikes!
