Postage (foreign stamps) / what to send for signing

Unread post by Jake1 »

Hi,

I got my hands on some American stamps (I'm from Europe), I asked for a total of $20,-.
The thing is, that it's all in small values of up to $2,-.

Any advice on what to do with it? I think it'd be weird to cover the whole envelope in stamps, so is it ok to enclose them in a small envelope so maybe the celeb can put on others?
(I had a hard time getting these so I hope the advice won't be something like: "get others" ;-) )

Also, what's better to send: a whole magazine or just the part you want to get signed?

Thanks for helping. {thumb2}

You can check US postal prices here http://www.usps.com/prices/first-class- ... prices.htm

For the most part, I can't see any letter you send being over 3oz (maybe more if you do send the entire magazine, I personally wouldnt as I send photos only, but that's me).

If you weigh it & let us know which country you're in, we can help you with a specific price. Either way, it's not gonna cost you more than around $3 (you're not gonna need to cover it in stamps {thumb2} )

Ok good, when I have everything (the magazine is still being sent to me, as are the stamps) I'll decide what I send and I'll weigh it.

I figured I'd get that many stamps because on ebay the shipping costs from America to the Netherlands are usually around $15... But now I have some stock

Also... Is there a price difference between sending something to... say... Seattle and Miami? (So sending from the Netherlands, would Seattle be more expensive as it is further?)

No, I don't believe there's a difference :)

you may want to go to your post office and ask them what would be appropriate. When I sent from the U.S. to Europe it cost me about $3. It also depends on what size envelope you're sending. I tend to send 9X12 envelopes. Also, do not cover the entire envelope in stamps.

Thanks for the responses...
While I'm at it: lets ask another question:

When I make a SASE should I put a return address on as well? So the address you send the fanmail to? And how about an airmail sticker?

You dont need to put a return address on the SASE. Some people put their own (so they have their address in the both spots) but the return address is only used if it's undeliverable to your address anyway, so it's kinda pointless.

You can either stick an Airmail sticker on it, or write "Par Avion/By Airmail" on the top left hand corner :)

That's because that is Priority mail. It's much faster. Use the link I gave you earlier http://www.usps.com/prices/first-class- ... prices.htm and check that list :)

Thanks again :D I'm expecting my items soon, and then I'll be able to send out my letter.

I was wondering, what do you all think of using smileys in a letter?
