Changes in USA Stamps

When Jay Leno was still doing the tonight show, he made a joke about how since less people are using the mail these days, the government has decided to raise stamp prices, and how only the government would do a stupid business practice like that. I laughed at the time, but now I have realized it may affect me. My only USA stamps I got in February, and are worth 42 cents each. Is what Jay saying true? If so, are my American stamps basically worthless now?

First class stamps in america are 44 cents but with the 42 cents stamps all you need to do is put enough postage on them for example if you live in the uk its 98 cents with my stamps the 44 cents ones I still have to put three on the envelope because two stamps only equal to 88 cents which is ten cents less!!!

I hope this helps!!! :D

First class mail is now .44 for each letter. If you bought the Forever Stamps with the Liberty bell on them, they are worth .44 even if you only paid .42 for them. They were designed with the intention to ALWAYS be worth the first class price, no matter how much it goes up, so people can stock up on them before a price hike.

But as beecs said, the international price also went up and the minimum now is .98

Hope this helpes. {thumb2} Let me know if you have other US stamps questions.

U.S. stamps were raised to .44 cents. If you bought Forever Stamps then they are worth the current postal price. Your .42 cent stamps are still good. You can still use them. Just make sure you but enough on to cover postage prices.

No, your US stamps are not worthless. You will just need to add 2 cents to each stamp. If the stamps you have are Forever stamps, there will be no need to get 2 cents stamps to make up for the difference, this is because Forever stamps automatically increase their value for inflation. {thumb2}

Yeah, why wouln't you be able to? Forever stamps are the same thing as first-class stamps. The only difference is Forever stamps increase their value with inflation.
