Am I reading the International Price Chart correctly??

Unread post by Jaffer »

Hello! I read the locked thread "What are the international postal prices", and I saw that the letter I intend to send to the USA from Australia will cost $12.20!!Thats the cost of over 20 stamps(our stamps are 55 cents each) That is daylight robbery!! And how will 20 stamps even fit on the envelope? Have I just read/interpreted the whole thing completely wrong?Please help me :oops: Thanks!

It should be two dollars and ten cents but I don't know if that is American Dollars or Austrailian

If its austrailian dollars then it will be 2.70

If its american dollars then it will be 1.70

I hope this helps :D

The best thing to do is weigh what you want to send and the look at your Australian mail site. If you still have questions you can contact them or run by your local post office to ask.

But 12.20 sounds outragious. I can't imagine you sending anything that will cost that much--especially if you are only sending photos. {thumb2}

I don't know whether prices have changed since that was written, however I can only assume you're read it slightly wrong as I can't imagine you're sending something that weighs that much? Your best bet is to try your post office or the postal website anyway :)
To mail FROM Australia TO the rest of the World

- Letters (up to 260mm x 360mm)
$2.05 - 50g
$4.10 - 125g
$6.15 - 250g
$12.20 - 500g
ETA: I've just checked the Australian Post website. The prices have changed slightly...

Up to 50g is $2.10.
Up to 125g is $4.10
Up to 250g is $6.30
Up to 500g is $12.60

You can check any international prices here: http://www1.auspost.com.au/pac/

Ah thank you! I think I over-estimated how much a letter, return envelope, photo and magazine page weighs!

I am in the US so we use ounces but I am pretty sure that those things will be under the 50 grams--that's only 2.10, not 12.20. :lol:

Good luck with your request. {thumb2}
