Is there a way to prep my trading cards so the ink does not bubble when they are signed with a sharpie?

I have heard you should rub them on your skin to remove the wax from them.

not sure what you mean by bubbling ink?

Cards with the UV coating will do this because the ink doesn't penetrate the surface and it will "Bubble". I would suggest having them signed with a Bic pen (or comaparable), but the results will vary. Even better though try to find cards of the subject that have "matte" or flat finished like the baseball cards from the 60's and 70's.

I still would suggest a ballpoint pen because trading cards are small and you will get the full sig.

Good Luck!

Spray hairspray in a mist from an arm's distance away and let it dry.

All you have to do is take a clean cloth and put a very little bit of water on it and rub the card fairly hard just be careful not to hit the edges and then dry it off and it takes the thin wax coating off and doesnt leave marks or damage the card, test it out on a card you dont care about first.

Talcum powder works fine, some aby powder has talc. {up} Rub the cards GENTLY with talcum powder. This will helps the ink adhere to the cards, without bubbling. {up} I suggest trying it out for yourself on some worthless cards util you get the proper technique down.
