How long

Unread post by nednarb3 »

Hi,

I have sent several autograph requests, photos, LORs, to several Cubs/Bears players. How long do you wait? What do you do while you wait? I feel like a little kid. I know the rule of thumb says wait several months. I know that, but I am asking more specifically for athletes or more specifically for the Chicago Cubs or Chicago Bears. How long did you have to wait?

Thank you
RYAN J.

Well it kinda varies from one person to anther. Some reply back in a matter of days, others take years. But the general waiting time is 6 months. I usually send my requests out and if I get a reply cool! if not, then I just keep waiting. and I write more requests to other people! :D

That looks likes like the only option. Wait. Send more, keep occupied and not think about a specific person/auto.

Yep. pretty much! But if you remember inlcude the photos and SASE you stand a better chance of them replying. {thumb2} Autograph collecting TTM that is, isn't a hobby for people who don't have patience. :lol: The longest one I've had to wait for was 700+ days (Amy Allen - STAR WARS). But it was so worth it. :D

Ryan J seems to have hit the nail on the head. I have recieved many autographs back in just a week or two. BUT others have taken more than a year. Generally after six months I write off those that I have gotten no response from and mark it up as a learning experience (with the number that have never come back, you'd think I am a lot smarter than I am) Also atheletes are funny (just like anyone else) some are more than willing to sign others could not care less.

I remember one experience at the old Cleveland stadium years ago. My son then about 9 years old stood amongst a mob of kids waiting for Charles Nagy who was signing for all. I stood beside his wife and talked with her as we waited. One of the comments that she made to was "He tries to sign for every kid he can..." I found her and his attitude very refreshing.

That pretty much sums it up. The longest I waited (with an eventual success) was seven years. A reply after that long is very unlikely though. Pretty much if you don't get anything back in one year it's probably a lost cause.

It is very hard wating :lol:

You can never tell when or even if you will get a reply {down}
If you include a SASE you will have a better chance of getting a reply.

Good luck!
