Sending overseas for the first time (help)

Unread post by Menji »

I'm sending a 6x9'' from USA to France. My letter weighs around 1.50 oz. I see most people say to put 2 IRCS in there. These are valid in any country, correct? And I noticed that they're only valid until the end of the year. Can I ask for 2010 ones at the post office or do they only sell 2009 ones? Lastly, do I need to fill out a customs form to send it overseas? I know I have to whenever I send a package but I'm not sure about a letter.

Thanks.

IRCs are good for any country.

I don't use IRC very much but two should be good. I might ask about ones that expire later, but the postoffice might not have made them yet.

On a letter, I don't think you HAVE to do a customs form. If I have included photos, I write that on the envelope for customs and also so it won't get bent.

Sorry I couldn't help much but I hope this helps a little. {up}

Hiya Menji,

2 IRCs should be fine yes and it's always good to include a SAE too, to save the celebrity time and increase your chance of a reply. :)

The new IRC is out now in most places, with the expiry date of December 31st 2013 I believe. It would be best to just double check that the ones you are buying won't expire at the end of the year though. When you buy them, ask for International Reply Coupons rather than IRCs - as some postal workers won't know what you mean!

Good luck with your requests, really hope you are successful! {up}
