what stamps do i need to get there?

You will need US Stamps to send there.
UK Stamps for your SASE!

Just wanted to add...If you don't know how many UK stamps you'll need, you can calculate shipping from UK to US HERE. Just select country (USA), enter your item’s weight and select what kind of an envelope you're going to use. Then you'll see what stamps can you use ;)

can you give em an estimate on how much my item would weigh?

You can use the scales at the post office to figure out the weight -- both for the whole package, and for the SASE and contents to be returned to you. Then you can use the British web site to caculate your postage. Yeah, it can be a bit of work until you become familiar with it but, hey, such is life...

I send a 5X7 photo in a 6X9 envelope from the UK to the US and it needs 3 2nd class stamps which is about 0.90 in postage.
