Re-sending after a semi-RTS failure

After getting an RTS today, I was lucky to catch up to the mailman a few doors down and asked him about the yellow sticker on the envelope. He said it's the new address of the guy I sent to but it's been over a year and a half, so they won't forward it.

I will resend to the address listed, but I do have a question: Should I just take the LOR and cards out of the old envelope and send to the new address, or should I also re-write the letter to reflect the current date? The original letter was dated 11/7/09, so it hasn't been that long. I plan to send it out tomorrow afternoon.

Too bad I can't do this as a poll.

Hello,

I personally would just re-send the same letter. I don't think it would affect you getting a success in any way if the date was a little off. But if you would feel happier if you re-wrote it then by all means go for it!

I actually re-sent a letter in the summer that I had originally sent in 2006 and got a RTS for. Although it said the date as 2006 I just added a little p.s. at the bottom saying that is how long I had been trying to contact her for and I really hoped that this time I would be successful :)

I wouldn't bother rewriting a new LOR, just toss the old LOR, SASE, and photo in a new envelope and send it to the new address on the sticker. {up}

Well, I resent the same letter and cards in the new envelope today. And no, I was being lazy. I didn't want to re-write the letter!

Thanks to the both of you who responded.
