Hi Everyone
I am new to this forum and to collecting autographs - I am sooo excited though!
I was wondering if anyone could help me as I do not want to end up in trouble!
If I find a photo that I really like of a celeb and download it onto my pc from the website/google pictures am I allowed to print it off and send it to a celeb and ask them to sign it?
Can I use one of the online photo printing companies to have such photos printed? Like I would with family photos I transfer my photo files to them and they print and send them to me, can I do this with photos I have saved onto my pc that are of celebs?
I do not want to try and get these printed and be told I am not allowed to do so, so I thought I would ask here first.
Any help is greatly appriciated.
Thank you

Yes, you can do that. I know some online stores don't allow this, but several of the members on here use sites that allow them to print those types of photos. I personally use my Wal-mart store and have mine done there. but I don't think there's to many wal-marts in the UK.

You can get them printed at Boots or Asda or Tesco or any other photo printing store. Some wont let you print copyright images like these, others will turn a blind eye.
There are also online stores you can upload images to, such as the Asda one I use (your photos will be posted to you). These generally dont check copyright. I personally wouldnt try and print an image under 1024 x 768 (for a 6x4 photo) as it would be too small and come out all fuzzy.

I had an e-mail today from a company I tried - photobox and they said it breaches copyright laws in the UK so I am not allowed to print them, I guess I will have to buy a photo printer or something
I know some places have self service booths, do the store see these photos? If I were to do it on one of those at Asda would the staff there see it?

Most of the photos I have found are under 1024x768 aswell

I don't know about the UK, but here in the States I use a self-service kiosk at a local Target store. A window pops up asking if I either own the photo or if I'm printing out a copyrighted image. Then it asks if I have permission to print them out if they are copyright images. I check off the "yes" box and proceed with printing out the photo. No one is standing there looking over my shoulder.

I dont see any problem with using google image search,it doesnt cost anything and as long as there isnt a copyright on the image,it is up for anyone who wants it.

How do you know if its copyright? I have just tried google image search and the images come up from websites like mtv which I would have thought are copyrighted?

Just because you don't see a copyright doesn't mean they are in the public domain. Photos often get modified, it's easy enough to do. I don't have a problem with using such an image for an autograph request -- as long as it isn't going to be sold.

This is not true at all.
