Has this happened to you three times?

Unread post by MainManBlade »

I have mailed out three separate lobby cards from the X-Men movies to Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Ian Mckellen (Magneto), and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique). Hugh is the only who signed the lobby card. Ian sent it back unsigned. Rebecca sent hers back unsigned--but enclosed a signed b&w headshot. Hugh did the same thing but he signed the Last Stand promo poster.

The only common denominator I could find was that the "Marvel" stamp was on the bottom right hand corner of the lobby cards.

Is there some copyright infringement issue going on? Are these folks not able to sign a likeness of themselves as a Marvel character with the logo on the picture?

Has this happened to anyone else?

I doubt it is a copyright infringement issue. It probably has more to do their signing habits than anything else.

It is definitely the signing habits of the people you chose to send to. Hugh Jackman doesn't sign authentically ttm. he sends out autopenned sigs. Rebecca doesn't sign ttm either-- she sends out pre-prints. Before sending you should research the signing habits of your intended target. Use the search function above and then read the feedback of as many replies as you can. This should give you an idea of who will/will not sign authentically.

Agreed. Sir Ian does sign authentically I believe (including putting first name & surname on the dedication to lower the value & deter resale) but I'm not sure how happy he is to sign X Men stuff. I can't remember. Try him again at the Waiting for Godot theatre address?

The Rebecca Romijn pic I will agree looks like an AP.
