Does Anyone know how much does it cost to mail out a Manila envelope? I've always had it be at least $1 but USPS(as we went to the USPS site and found out it's 88 cents) and myself are convinced its 88 cents. And I know it depends on weight but am curious. So does anyone know as this is my first time doing SASE with larger envelopes. thanks!

When I send out 9x12 SASE's I just add two .44 cent stamps and I always get them back. {up} So yes, .88 will do it.

I always take my stuff to the post office and send from there. I just don't trust that the mail carrier would handle the envelope as carefully as I would. I also use the scale in the lobby to make sure I have the appropriate postage, both for the outer envelope and the SASE, before I send it off. Sometimes I even take the package to the clerk and pay for postage at the counter so that I can save my stamps for future SASEs. It all depends on how long the line is and/or how patient I am at the time. Or which direction the wind is blowing.

FYI "manila" is just an envelope that is a light brown finish (usually made from manila hemp) and can come in many sizes :)

A 9X12 envelope is at LEAST 0.88 in stamps. That covers the cost of one ounce, which is about what a 8X10 would weigh in the envelope. If they add cardboard or anything else it would be more (1.05 for 2 ounces, 1.22 for 3). I usually just put the 0.88, but sometimes if I don't send a SASE, they put 3 .44 stamps on it--to be on the safe side, I assume.

Hope this helped.

I always add 3 stamps to my return 9x12 envelopes just to be safe.
