how often do you guys get successes from doing this? I see some companys pass it along (usually after a long wait) & others you never get a response back.

is this a reliable way of writing to an artist? im looking for a guestimate on what percentage on what my success might be...

would it be better to write VV? even if in the past i could never seem to get responses back? hmmm

looking for opinions on people who have experience writing to these addresses.

Firstly, when writing VV, make sure the venue passes on fanmail. If it is not listed as either on the site, see if you can go on the venues website and look for a fanmail policy. If they do not have one, email or call and ask what their policy is about it. That should help with your VV success rate. As well, I have written to many company's, with all my requests coming back successful... except for one. That is, however, the result of extensive research to determine whether or not the artist signs via agency, or company. This can commonly be done by looking at previous feedback. If none is present, you may need to do some research, contact via the artists website, or call, to ask about that policy, again. This has all worked very well for me, however, I don't send to major stars, and generally send to older, or quieter artists, if you will. None of the newer people, not my cup of tea... Best of luck to you!
