my name is nicholas and im fifteen years old i just started autograph collecting. i have sent out more than "thirty" packages filled with lors, sases. i am paranoid about a few things. first being, that the first 15 i sent out (the ones i wanted the most) were typed and not extremly personal, and quite frankly short. the rest i sent out (the ones i may have already have gotten a reply from) have been long, personal, and hand written. i feel as if my typed ones have no chance. does anyone send out typed ones. and also i read alot about secretarials and now i feel like EVERY one i recieve is a secretarial unless its personalized (none ive gotton are)(do you guys ask for it to be personalized?) what keeps you guys going. im trying this out because im NOT PATIENT AT ALLLLLL! and i think this will help me out alot. i also do not have much to look foward to in life currently and when i open that mailbox and see a letter in there it really makes my day. thank you all so much that have already answered my questions (you know who they are)

I usually type my letters but I try to make them a little more personal. And don't worry if things don't come back right away. Most celebrities have a very tight schedule and have little time to reply to fanmail but they will get to it eventually. This hobby takes a lot of patience. Just give it time!

HI nicholas,
I personally only send hand written letters because I don't like wasting ink.
But I'm sure the typed letters or not you'll get a response
Long written hand letters are sometimes bad and good some celebs like it some don't and won't read it but will sign you photo
I think that if you see a lot of success that you'll feel good that you're letter is comming thats what motavites me
Hope this helped
Alexandra

do you guys ask for your photographs to be personalized or is that considered rude? i personally have not asked any TTM to be personalized but ive sent lots of emails and ive asked those to all be personalized because i have nothing to loose (stampts/envelopes) so i figure give it a try.
you guys?

I never formally ask but sometimes ill say... Maybe you can even personalize it to me if it's not to much trouble!
It's not considered rude at all, I think. You are just asking the celeb a question.

I never ask for my photos to be personalized but 99% of the time they personalize them to me which is nice.

I simply say something along the lines of "feel free to personalize if you wish." There's nothing wrong with coming right out and asking for a personalization though. I just like to leave it as an option rather than a request.
I always hand write my requests. My handwriting isn't the best, but I just take the time to make sure it is legible. And I don't apologize for my handwriting. It's not like I do it on purpose, and is nothing to be embarassed about.
