I think it would be rude to just send a celebrity a photo and a SASE without a letter. You should be telling the celeb why you like them, that you ARE a fan, and aren't just looking for a picture.
If I were a star, and someone just sent me a photo to sign and nothing else, it would hit the trash really fast!

It does take time. I've sent about 30 requests since 5/27 of this year, and got back 7 so far.
