Mailing a slightly damaged item to be signed?

Hello, I am hoping for some advice on this. I was hoping to send a request to one of my favorite musicians, Ronnie Spector, and I was going to mail her the sleeve to one of my favorite of her records. My problem is that the sleeve has a hole in it, and it looks as though it was drilled through. I bought the record used, and this defect was present when I bought it. Do you think that Ronnie Spector would be offended if I mailed her this slightly damaged sleeve to be signed? I ask, because the hole is in one of the worst possible places... straight through her cheek on the sleeve! I do hope for your opinion on this, and I thank you in advance for any replies.

If I recall correctly they used to drill holes in the promotional records given to radio stations and such to identify them as NFS promos.....it was very common and she would know all about the practice, so I doubt she would be offended.

arrowsup is right, a punched hole means it was used for promotional purposes, and the "damage" is used to prevent it from being sold at market price, returned to the label, etc. I don't think I have any records like that, but I've got quite a few CD's like that.

I don't think she would be offended, although I would consider acquiring an undamaged sleeve to send - but then again, I'm probably too concerned about aesthetics.

Thank you both. While my phraseology in the original post could have been clearer, I was already aware of the usage of a hole to denote a record as being a promo copy. My concern was the positioning of the hole, which is located on Ronnie Spector's face on the sleeve, rather than the upper corner of the sleeve, which is the usual standard for such promo holes. I've ultimately decided to mail the sleeve to her tomorrow, as it is is not aesthetically displeasing. Again, thank you to both of you for your opinions.
