I was just wondering, since I live in Canada, how much postage to apply to my SASE a 9x12 size to Canada. Thanks every one. I usually put $1.20. I just want to make sure that it will still be enough.

Hi mkainsworth,
I found a table with the fees you have to pay for letters.
Maybe this helps - it depends on the weight.

Or just look up this one - more easier to get an overview: (Thanks to TheCollector - this really helps!):

As I live in Germany and I always put a 80Cent-stamp on my envelope (a small one) - it may be enough for you to put a 60Cent or 85Cent-stamp on your envelope.

hey,
My mom went to Bashas to buy me stamps, and they're all out, or not selling them anymore, or atleast not for now because the government is making the prices go up!

It may even be up to $10.00(just a guess) by January!

The bottom link does not have any information on mailings FROM Canada to the USA. Any other ideas?

They said it is only 39 cents and then 24 cents for each additional ounce.
I am sorry. I am just confused by the $10 number cuz that seemed so drastic. Sorry for the confusion. Still not sure I get it, but thats ok.

Hi mkainsworth,
To send something TO the US FROM Canada, you still use exactly the same postage as you would before, as that is not what is changing.
If you have US postage and want to know how much to put on your SASE FROM the US TO Canada, it's not that you will need to put more postage per se, it's that the price of individual stamps is rising. You will still use the same number of stamps as before - if before you put two .60 stamps on your envelope, you will still use two stamps, it's just that the price will have risen to .63 cents per stamp. .37 stamps are rising to .39 cents.
Hope this made sense
Joey
p.s. I don't think anything is rising up to $10.00...

Ok. I'll ask again. At the post office, they seemed very confused about the increase. One of them told me that everything was increasing by 2 cents, everything included. I usually send 9x12 envelopes, with SASEs inside and a picture for 60 cents. Will actually be increased to only 62 cents? Will send a 9x12 envelope cost 51 cents instead of 49 cents? Will the 83 cent rate be raised to 85 cents? I'm so confused by this and if it's SO important to increase postage, why they don't know what the increase is!!!

Elmomommy - Your question I know the answer to. Everything isn't increasing 2 cents. The normal 37 cent stamp is 39 cents. Then each additional ounce only increases 1 cent so instead of 23 it is 24. (that gets added to the base 39) So instead of 60 cents it is 63. The Breakdown.
39 (new price) + 24 (new price) = 63
previously
37 + 23 = 60
So then instead of 83 it would be:
39 + 24 + 24 = 87 cents
I have a really kind post office where the guy explained it to me. I was sending a bunch of SASEs that I hopefully will get back in the new year. I confused him to death wanting ot put next years postage on already so he had to think about it and calculate and explained it to me. Hope that makes sense.
As far as them all not knowing they haven't informed them all very well because it does not take place until Jan 8 and they arent really thinking about us collectors wanting to send out SASEs already.
