From South Africa, newbie needs help :(

Ok, so I have never ever requested an autograph before. Hell, I didn't even know that you could request an autograph. Anyway, I'm from South Africa and so I was wondering:

1) From where do I get IRCs?
2) How much are the IRCs?
3) How many IRCs do I need to send?
4) How do I go about sending my request? Do I send in my own photo or what?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

P.S. Just for the record, wild animal do not roam about freely here- I've been asked that question rather often and its starting to annoy me.

1) Your post shop/office
2) I searched on the SA post website ---> www.sapo.co.za but I can't find anything about IRC prices. IRC prices vary in each country so you'll have to go to a post shop and ask them
3) For an 8x10 photo i'd send 2-3 just to be safe but 2 should be enough.
4) You write a Letter of Request in which you write what you like about the work of that person and request them to sign your picture. In most cases you do have to send your own picture but look up the person you are sending to so you know if they provide pictures or you have to send them. Also, it is good to find out how long that particular person takes to reply to fan mail

Well put, SimonaMusik.

The only thing I'd add, Vampire_Addict, is to check the main Collecting Help forum page as there are a lot of sticky threads (the few topics at the top of the message boards that are always there because they are so relevant ) which can help you answer some of your questions. I'd advise you check out the Where can I buy IRCs, US Stamps? (and other stamps!) , What do I need to include in my envelope? and the How do I write to my favorite actor? Translations Also topics first of all.

And the only other thing is that with any autograph request, I would look up the celebrity's previous feedback in the database here.. That way you will know if they reply at all, how long it ususally takes, whether they send their own photos of whether it would be better for you to include your own etc.
