What stamps do you put on your enveloppe ?

Unread post by Oka »

Hi,

I'm a new member of fanmail. I've known this website for a long time but I haven't sent anything yet. Probably because it was too hard for me.
But now, I'd like to try :) I have a lot of actors I like and I'd love to get autographs from them.

Here is my question :

I live in France and I'd like to send a SASE to get my autograph back. I could buy IRC but I think it's too complicated.
I want to send my letters to the usa and I'd like to buy american stamps online for the SASE;
I think it's possible but I just don't know how many stamps and what value I should put on the enveloppe.

Can you help me ? Does anyone add real stamps on the SASE ? Or everybody use IRC ?

Thank you for your help

Hi,

Thank you for the link. I already found it but I don't really know how much it's gonna weight. I don't really understand the website either so I ask american people who know the postage :)
I'd like to send a A5 enveloppe.
I found an interesting information when I made a research :

viewtopic.php?f=117&t=205835&p=890356&h ... ps#p890356

I should have done that first.

Is it the same thing for France ?
$0.98 for 1oz for an A5 envelope
$1.82 between 1 and 2 oz for an A5 envelope

If I understand correctly, I can put 1 $0.98 stamp for 1 oz. But if the value goes up before I got the answer, I'm screwed, right ? But if I put $0.44 stamps it doesn't matter even if the value goes up ?
Is there $1.82 stamps that doesn't change if the value goes up ?
Are the values gonna change soon ? When was the last time in the USA?

You can't order us stamps online from the usps from overseas. But you can do it by phone, fax or mail. Alternatively several members on here sell them, check the Autograph Exchange forum.

For the USA prices went up in January but not on the mail service you need so you should be okay. Forever stamps work in the way that they are "forever" worth the current rate of first class postage despite the price you paid. So you may have stocked up at $0.42 but now you can use them for a $0.44 values which is the current one.

Insufficient postage would still apply if you didn't put enough on, so if you needed 3 but put on 2 that would be classed an insufficient.

For France it's a different country and currency so they have a different system, you'll have to ask someone else.
