TheCollector: John Travolta Genuin or not?

Unread post by Nissaea »

I was going to respond in the "How To Find Out If Your Autograph Is Genuine Or Not" thread where my question originated however I figured it may be smart to start a whole new topic.
TheCollector wrote: I personally believe that the John Travolta autos are real. I now have about 5 (I didn't ask 5 times, but I guess I was just lucky?!) and they are all identical.

All of John's autos are also very similar

I'm going to post up the 2 i've received from Mr. Travolta. I personally do not find them to be very similar. I've only noticed signatures like the one on the right here on fanmail that match. So it makes me really wonder who signed the left one.

Out of your 5 autographs does my left one look like any you've received?

Hi Nissaea {up}

Thanks for your post :P

When I said "they are all identical" I was talking about the photographs rather than the autographs. :P

I said "all the autos are also very similar", and I suppose they most closely resemble the example on the right.

I have posted below a copy of the colour 10x8 I got (5 times!). I also got a letter from is sister June

John Travolta is rumoured to send out secretarial autographs.

It's obvious that two different people have signed the two photos in your post Nissaea. Authentic autographs from John should look a bit more like the one on the right. I have definitely seen an IP autograph from John, and it looks more like the one on the right.

Have a look at this link: http://www.star-collector.net/autosigs/ ... ltasig.htm John Travolta's autograph has been scrutinised here.

Good luck :D

Some secretarial autographs will look almost identical to a real autograph that even autograph experts may have a hard time distinguishing between the two.

The photo on the left of Nissaea's post is a definite Secretarial. It's too different from a confirmed authentic signature.

The one on the right is a presumed authentic, but we will never be 100% sure unless we manage to witness John Travolta signing in person. It could be another secretarial for all we know, as some secretaries could replicate a signature exactly how it should be.

I seriously doubt that John Travolta would have had trouble keeping his signature the same or deliberately altered his signature. Everytime someone signs their name it's never 100% the same. It's always slightly different. However, these differences don't look as obvious as the comparison between Nissaea's photos.

No problem  I didn't word it very well

The auto on the left is certainly different to the other ones I have seen which tend to be like the one on the right.

But as others have said, it will always be very difficult to know for certain unless we actually see him sign it. So I guess we will just have to be trusting :P

Cheers

Maybe his signature changes. I got signed photos from a not very famous london dj, both with different signatures on, but I knew they were both signed by him, as he also wrote me a letter.

Whenever you sign your name, it's always a bit different from the next signature. You will never be able to sign your name exactly every time.

As you can see, Nissaea's photo on the right and Ian's photo have very similar autographs. However, the photo on the left of Nissaea's post is much different from many other confirmed authentic autographs of John Travolta's.

It's very unlikely that John Travolta all of a sudden decided to change autographs. Do you all of a sudden decide to change your signature? It's been rumoured that he does send secretarial autographs, and this could be an example of such.
