Postage help.

Unread post by MikeysAmazing »

Hey everyone,

Big Boyzone fan here, and my favourite member is Mikey Graham. I'm thinking about writing him a nice letter and putting the most recent Boyzone album cover in there for him to sign, and maybe his solo album cover too.

What I want to know is what is it best to send it as from the UK to Dulin? I was thinking of maybe sending it as recorded delivery - this enables you to track it doesn't it? But then has anyone else ever sent an autograph request to a singer, or actor, or whoever as recorded delivery?

Also what about return postage on the SAE?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice. :D

Hi

I wouldn't personally send something recorded.

Unless you're sending to his home address you'll only get a signature from somebody in the office who you're then relying on to pass it on, and if you are sending to his home address he wouldn't thank you if he needs to make a trip to the sorting office if he's out when it arrives.

If you're doing it because you're worried that the items might get lost then send something else.

It costs quite a bit to send recorded overseas (and unless they've tidied it up since I last sent overseas recorded the tracking is decidedly iffy). I'd spend the money getting a couple of really nice 10x8s printed and adding the extra postage to get them back.

Good luck

Yeah, that confirmed what I was thining.

I'm not worried about not getting it back as I know for a fact that Mikey does sign fanmail sent to him.

All want is to know it got delivered. Now, I posted something to Sligo the other week in a Jiffy bag. I went to the post office and I asked for the cheapest method of postage where I could also get a tracking number. They gave me a method where I got a tracking number and was able to track it all the way to it's destination, and the great thing being that the person on the other end didn't have to sign for the item, so no trips to the sorting office required if they weren't in. I'm wondering If whatever method of postage this was, I could use it for just a normal envelope?
