Do IRCs work?

Hi, I'm still trying to get my fanmail ready to send out to the UK. I'm from the US.
Originally, I was going to buy UK stamps from the Royal Mail site to use on my SASE, but I just received an email saying they wouldn't accept overseas orders even though I've ordered from them before..
So now that I can't use UK stamps (grrrr...) I was wondering if IRCs really are a good alternative or do most people not use them and find them too much of a hassle?

Some people on here don't like sending out IRCs...I've had a good amount of success with them, and received replies from the likes of Judi Dench, David Tennant, Maggie Smith, Derek Jacobi, David Suchet, a plethora of Doctor Who stars, etc.

Doctor Who stars are precisely why I want to send fanmail to the UK! :)
and yeah, I just don't want to burden them with it plus I want more chance of getting my SASE back.

Starting with the new series with my very favorites. :) then when I get extra postage I'll try to go through them all eventually.

Very cool! From the new series, I've had TTM success with David Tennant (twice), Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Derek Jacobi (Yana/the Master from "Utopia"), Carey Mulligan, Bernard Cribbins, and I'm currently waiting on Christopher Eccleston and Freema Agyeman.

Ah! That is amazing! I'm sorta really envious. ;D Did you use IRCs for all those? I'm assuming the Tennant one was awhile ago since I haven't seen a success for him in awhile.

Yup all IRCs. I think my Tennant success was in December, maybe?

I usually send out 8x10 pics, so I like to send 3 IRCs just to be on the safe side. I had one actor (another Who actor, the leader of the Ice Warriors in 3 of their 4 stories) who I had sent 8x10s to send back 2 of my IRCs, saying 1 was enough, but I'd rather err on the side of caution.
