Index Cards?

Unread post by only_a_fool »

Hey folks!

I am new to collecting autographs and I have a question regarding those "index cards" some people postes about.

My first 4 requests are ready to be sent and I wanted to bring them to the post office tomorrow (well actually it's 2:30 here so I'm gonna bring them there today). I read that lots of you guys enclose index cards to your letters and pics.

My question would be: What are they good for? In most cases I've seen they were only simple white pieces of paper.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but - as I said - I'm a newbie. ^^
Oh and sorry for my bad English as well.

Regards,
fool [germany]

Index cards are basically a card that varies in size (3x5, 4x6, 5x7, 8x10 ect. ect.) and can be purchased at any office supply store or online. I make my own custom index cards by taking heavy duty colored cardstock and cutting it into 4x6 cards and adding text & graphics to it, to give it a cooler look.

If you have the Ability to send photos, that's always good, as most celebs won't sign just plain cards to the the fear of them being forged or reprinted.

you can check out most of my custom cards under my website link down below. :D

Oh, I definitely hoped that you saw my question and answered it :D Thanks, man. Helped a lot. I already looked through your collection yesterday. ^^ May I send you my idea of an index card via pm? (btw: I chose 3x5 for the size) I also prepared a 8x10 photo, but I saw many users sending a photo PLUS a index card. So I wasn't quite sure what to do. ^^

Just another question to everyone using those custom cards:

Do you print them on photo-paper or do you use normal paper/cardboard?

I use cardstock, which is a bit thicker than regular printer paper. and it comes in all sorts of awesome colors, which is what I love. you might be able to buy it already cut to 3x5's, but I have a trimmer and can get three 4x6's out of a 8x11 piece of cardstock.

Thanks Ryan! Again, you helped me a lot. Even though I don't think that I could use cards in other colours than white, because I have pictures on them. I'm gonna try to find a store here who sells them in A4 so I can get 8 cards out of one cardstock.
