Instant photo machines question - Please help

Unread post by adamlincoln »

I use instant photo machines to print my photos and they always seem to crop the image at the bottom and top a few cm which is very annoying . Is there anyway i can make photos 6*4 before i go to the machine so they do not get cropped and just printed?

I use Adobe Photoshop to resize mine to 4x6. I've also found that 850 x 1250 pixels makes a nice 4x6 too. {up} so if you can crop the image too that dimensions they should turn out perfect. also when looking for photos for 4x6, make sure their long enough and wide enough for a 4x6.

I do mine a bit differently. when I open PS, I click

'File'
'New' (pops open a menu)

I put the size as 4x6 or 6x4 inches (Depending on which way the photo is) in 'RGB' color mode at 200 resolution. make sure it's also on '8 bit' too.

Then I click

'File'
'Place' (Pops open a menu)

And I find the photo I wish to be made into a 4x6.
you can either double-click the photo or click it once and hit the 'place' button.

Then I simply enlarge the photo (Hold the 'shift' button down while dragging the photo corner to keep it from distorting) and once it fills up the entire frame and have it positioned just right I right-click and click 'Place'.

Then I click

'File'
'save as'

Drop down the 'Format window' and click 'JPEG' and save the file to either your desktop or where ever you like to save your photos at. The finished file size will be 800 x 1200 pixels. just make sure the photos your resizing are at least that large or larger as anything smaller will be become blurry when resized bigger than what it originally was. {up} but in some cases it's not all that noticable.

Hopefully that doesn't sound too confusing for you! once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze! just sounds really compicated when you read it.
