I have read everything and still confused! SASE etc...

Unread post by jezhead »

Ok so going to start sending out requests for autographs, next week there is a concert happening about an hour away from my home. This is what i would like to know. I know i need to write a short note asking for an autograph and to supply a 8X10 photo as well as a SASE inside the envelope i am sending, but what size envelope is the one i am mailing? In other words what is the size of envelope i am putting the 8x10 envelope in? Or since the photo is 8x10 does that mean that the SASE has to be a little bigger? Do you guys know what i mean? lol, what is the sizes of the two envelopes i am sending?
thanks for all your help!

Your SASE should be a little bigger than the photo, and the main envelope (the one everything goes in) should be a little bigger than the SASE. Or they can be the same size and you can fold the SASE and put it in the envelope. :) Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply, would folding the SASE make it more than likely ruin or bend the signed photo when they send it back though?

You could include a piece of cardboard that could be put in the SASE. If you only fold it in half, it probably won't hurt the SASE.

Its cheaper and easier to send 5x7 photos instead of 8x10 and you can easily fit a 6x8 type envelope as the return inside a 9x12 size envelope without having to fold the return envelope but dont forget to put a thin piece of cardboard in the return envelope or at least write do not bend on it or use the small photo mailers like i do for the return envelope for a guarantee it wont get bent...Good luck.

Thanks for that suggestion, do you think 4x6 pictures are too small to send? Oh and do you have a photo or something so i can see what a small photo mailer looks like? :) thanks

I dont have a photo they are just 6x9 size cardboard mailers with a pull and stick flap,go to staples and ask them they will show you they cost about $3.50 for 6. I have sent lots of 4x6 its a ok size but i send 5x7 now because it leaves more room for inscriptions and looks alot bigger than the 4x6 but still mails in the same size envelope for the same postage as 4x6. The other reason i send 5x7 over 8 x10 is to use less ink because my canon printer prints perfect photos but the ink isnt cheap so i save on ink and postage by sending 5x7.
