Do you guys send out hand written or typed letters. I always hand write mine, so that they don't look like form letters. On the other hand, probably more than one of mine has gotten thrown out by the celeb because they couldn't read my handwriting! :) How long are your letters on average? I'm just curious. I've had pretty good success doing it the way I am doing it, but it could be better since I still have somthing like 55 requests still out there...Thanks!

Handwritting your letter is always the best option. However if your handwritting tends to be illegible, it may be in your best interest to type them. If you type, try and write it so it doesn't seem to be a forum letter. My letters are usually around 1 page handwritten. Most celebrities are fairly busy and don't have time to read long letters. Like cernan said, it is always the best option to handwrite your own letter. If your handwriting is illegible (luckily mine is not), it is still smart to try as hard as you can to make it legible, but if it seems impossible, then you would have to go with the typed. But think about it this way, if a celebrity not only autographs a photo for you, but also sends you a letter, wouldn't you prefer it to be handwritten? Typed letters can seem too much like a form letter (as cernan mentioned), so if you do choose to type one make it more personal by mentioning movies they were in and why you liked them, etc. (I would still do this if I was handwriting a letter). I hope you choose the best way possible and good luck with future autographs.

Mine are always handwritten. I write quite tiny so I hope they can read them ;) And they tend to be 0.5 pages handwritten.

There is nothing wrong with doing it either way, it's a matter of preference. In my opinion, hand writing a letter makes it a bit more personal, as the celebrity will actually see that you've put the effort in to write to him/her. However, if your writing is messy and hard to read, I would definitely recommend you type your letters.

With any letter, try to keep the whole thing up to 1 page. Any longer and there may be a chance that it won't be read at all, as celebrities don't have a lot of time to get everything done.

Plus, make sure that any letters you send out do not sound like form letters. No one wants to pick up your letter only to sound like it's had the blanks of the letter filled in.

I send all my auto rquests out typed, I have sent 5 so far, 2 have came back, 1 with a letter and 1 personalized, and am still waiting on the other 3.

I handwrite my stuff, because I usually keep them very short (one side of a notecard, usually) because I know they don't have a lot of time to read their fanmail - so if they do read it, they don't waste a lot of time on it, and if they don't, then I haven't wasted a lot of time on it! Typewritten they probably wouldn't fill a quarter of a page. I print my name out after my signature, though, so it's clear for the person reading the fanmail in case the celeb personalizes autographs.

My personal preference is to hand write. I think that it feels more personal and makes it look like I put time into it. Also, when I recieve a letter back, I always enjoy the handwritten ones even more then the typed ones. It's only fair then to handwrite the ones that I send. But, honestly, I doubt that it makes a whole lot of a different on whether or not you get a reply.

It is all about personal preference

I type all mine as my handwriting is not great (that's shorthand for you!!!) and to be brutally honest, I don't have the time to handwrite.

My collecting is of course for charity and I think typing is perfectly OK for that. If I know the person, or I am a particular fan then I often handwrite a small note on the bottom of the letter, and that works for me I now have around 500 autographed items/photos.

I love the idea of handwriting letters, and I guess if I was collecting for totally personal reasons then I would try to do this more
