Is sending a stamp the only way to get autograph replies?

I always send a self addressed envelope, but is sending a stamp really necessary to receive a reply? If you don't send stamps are celebrities less apt to reply? I have received many successes without stamps...
Thanks!

It is always a good idea to include the return postage. That way, all the celebrity has to do is sign the item(s), put them in the evelope, and put it back in the mail. Some celebrities may put on the postage themselves, but many are so busy, that they may very well just not take the time. The easier you make it for them, hopefully the more likely they are to sign the item(s) you sent.

it's really simple here guys. You're asking someone to sign for free out of the kindness of their heart - send a SASE. Yeah - that might be more costly - but you're far FAR more likely to get a result than you would if you asked someone to sign for free AND pay for your postage so YOUR collection can grow.
Just ask yourself - if you were the celeb and you got a bag of fanmail sitting in front of you - are you going to spend your money to ensure someone you've never met gets their request back? maybe, maybe not. depends on how generous you're feeling after the 30th letter without a stamp shows up.
Send a SASE and you increase your chance of a response.

Some people will reply others won't I know I sent out 2 a year ago right before the price of postage up again and both came back one came with the stamp I sent it with on it and the other come back with a 1 cent stamp added so it's all up to the person sending them out sometime it's the mangers job other times they have someone just for their mail.
Here's the current us stamp on e-bay
