paper used for pictures

Hi there!!

I'm new to this. New to sending out fanmail and in this forum. :)
There's only one actor who drove me to do this haha!
I'm planning to send a fanmail ( my very first ) and I want it to be perfect and of course, successful.

I just want to ask a couple of things:

What kind of paper do you guys use for the pictures?
I understand that you search the picture you want to be autographed, and print it.
Is it a glossy paper? or what should I say if I'm going to purchase it?
Or should I purchase posters of these actors somewhere?
Will the IRC costs the same as how much I pay for the shipment of my fanmail? because in my country, it costs arm and leg to send a parcel or A4 envelope to UK. ( I'm still a student and I have to save up for this :D )

I really, really hope I'd get a response from my fave celeb! :D

one more question:

Are your letters typed? or hand-written?
My handwriting sucks and I 'm afraid he won't be able to understand it.
And if it's typed, I'm worried that it might come off as impersonal. :(

i've used glossy photo paper, 6x4/8x6
you can buy pretty cheap at staples/supermarkets

and some people send blank 6x4 index cards/dvd covers/cards if depends on what you wanna send
i send things that aren't to expensive/missed if lost/not returned

Hey Karl, thanks for replying. :)
So what are the blank index cards for?
are these for the celeb to write a letter for you?
What if they don't want to? Aren't they gonna be pressured to write something for you?
I'm sorry I have tons of questions, Im soooo neww at this.

I saw a thread here where the collector said that the celeb wrote a few lines of encouragement on her endeavors. So you're saying, this is so because the collector sent a blank index card?

TIA!

Some people like to collect on index cards instead. Some celebs will not sign blank cards sometimes though due to fear of forgery.
