Hello all!

Nice to meet you. My name is Megan and I am new to this site (as well as to autograph-seeking). I collected the addresses listed here for Martin Sheen, Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford and have written each of them a letter (about a page long). I plan on printing a photo of each of their characters from the West Wing series, and including it, with the letter, in a manila envelope.

Is there anything else I need to do before I send these requests out?

Thank you so much!

Hey,

I'm new too! If you want them to sign the photo and send it back you'll have better luck if you send a self addressed stamped envelope (SASE). What I usually do is print out some 4x6's at Walgreens/Walmart/CVS and send those with a standard 4 1/8 x 9 1/2 inch envelope (the long white envelopes people use to send out bills or regular letters and what not) because you can put just one forever stamp on them for postage!

If this helps this is what I do:
1 Smaller Sized Manilla Envelope to send to celebrity (with your address as return address and celebs address obviously)
1 Letter of Request (LOR)/Fan Letter
1 standard sized envelope with 1 forever stamp on it. I put my address in the middle of the envelope (because that's where I want it sent) and leave the return address blank
1 4x6 photograph printed from CVS

(this all costs 45 cents to send in the mail if you only send one 4x6 in a smaller manilla envelope so I also just buy 45 cent stamps to make my life easier)

I recommend getting a couple book of forever stamps if you're gonna send out multiple autographs!

Best of luck!

Welcome, Megan. It sounds like you have a good idea for your collection. I would reiterate what anglophile said about the self-addressed, stamped envelope (known as an SASE). You are more likely to get a response if you pay for the postage to get your photo back as well as including the return envelope with your address already on it.

Good luck!
