Yes, IRC's are no longer available in the UK.
There are a couple of alternatives.
Obtain stamps from the country you wish your SASE to be sent from- check out the Autograph sale/exchange forum on here, many people sell and trade stamps. Look up the prices on that countries websire to make sure you use enough.
Or, buy small amounts of foreign currency ($1 bills, 5EURO notes) and include enough with your request to cover postage.

^^ Do you guys from the UK have any idea if they still accept IRC's though?
I've been sending IRC's to my UK people and it just occurred to me that if they don't sell them they might accept them...

I dont know as ive never used them
ill check for you on the Royal mail website
edit from what i can find they still accept them but you could try getting some Pounds Sterling and send a couple of £1 coins in your letter although the pound is weak compared to the dollar
e.g £7 is $14 so you would trade $14 to get only £7
hope i helped

Yes IRC's are still accepted for exchange here.
I would not recommend sending pound coins, they are heavy, obvious to mail workers and will add alot to your postage cost.
If you are able to get IRC's no need to bother with coins.

^^ Thanks so much to everyone above. (thanks for looking it up for me EmmaSheree!)
Yeah, I avoided trying to get the £1 coins because they weigh so much! I just put a little note on my IRC's explaining what they are, how to use them and why I'm sending them. Hahaha.
Also, if you guys are trying to send things to the United States, I wouldn't mind selling you some US Stamps...I explained which types we use/how much they are in extreme detail on this post if you're unsure what type you want:

PM me if you're interested. That's the simplest way of doing things...no slips or anything just genuine postage (that's how I'm doing things now in the UK- I made a few trade for your stamps)
