What happens if you dont have an IRC?

I recently sent a package, (right around 8x10) to someone in canada, however instead of the IRC, i put regular US stamps on the Self addressed envelope. Will it not be accepted back into the US. or will it be postage due or what happens?

It will not make it back to the US. You have to use Canadian stamps for the SASE. The only thing that will happen to the SASE is it will not be sent. The only thing you can wish for is if the person you are sending to is nice enough to pay for postage and the envelope.

hmmm, well this stinks..i wish there was a way i could pay for it. i didnt realize that Canada wouldnt send it back. I dont suppose theres anyway it could make it to their post office or w/e and then i can pay for it?

You can try sending to the address again and attach money in the envelope.

Yeah, that envelope won't make it back to you, so keep your fingers crossed they'll get you a new envelope and pay postage.


For future reference, forget about IRC's. They are a pain in the butt to get ahold of, and it's a pain in the butt for the celeb's to go to the post office and exchange them. Stick with either getting stamps from the celebs country or sending them money to cover postage (american dollars or perferably their own currency if you can get ahold of it).

Thanks for the heads up. Well, the celebrity doesnt actually live in Canada, shes just filming a movie there (until August 31 i believe). Hopefully by some miracle they send a new envelope, as that would be awesome and totally make my day. I've seen it happen a few times, so im keeping my fingers crossed. Or who knows, maybe she'll take the envelopes and TTM back to the US.

Put canadian dollar in it, and say it is for postage, because you haven't stamps or ircs.
I'm doing it that way.
But it is not completely safe because it is forbidden to send money by mail, but still better than nothing.

They already sent the package... And sending money isn't illegal if it was everyone on this whole forum would be going to jail!

I don't mean that people would go to jail..
but if they find money, they could take it out or throw away the envelope.
That is what I heard..
