How can you check someone's address?

I've been looking for contact details and a possible address for a particular person for quite some time now but the only problem is they are not a typical celebrity. I'm looking for a way to contact former mobster turned author Kevin Weeks (a friend and associate of Boston mob boss Whitey Bulger) whose book I have recently purchased and fallen in love with. I wanted to contact him to see if he could sign my book or something but seeing as he is not an actual celebrity he doesn't have like an agency address. I've done some online research and I have a feeling that I might have found his home address and I was wondering if 1) It would be acceptable to send something there and 2) If it is ok if there was any way I could triple check to make sure it's his address. What do you guys think?
Sorry this is such a stupid question!

Is there an address in the book? Like his publishers address? I normally don't send to a personal address unless the actor gives his or her consent, but it's really up to you.

The thing is, I don't know if he's still with that publisher so if I write to them they won't be able to pass it on.

Ah, gotcha. You could try sending them an email and ask if they will pass the mail onto him.

This is what I found on the publisher's website:
"Signed Book
I would like to have my book signed by the author. How can I get that done?
HarperCollins does not have a method of handling requests for signed copies, but you might be able to make direct contact if the author has a Web site. Look for a web site link on the author page of harpercollins.com, or put the name into a search engine such as google.com or yahoo.com to see. Alternatively, you might be able to catch your author when he's touring nearby. Go to the Authors page and see if the author's name appears in the menu under "Authors Currently Touring," select your state, and submit.
Contact an Author
How do I write to an author? Can you give me an author's e-mail address?
We are not able to release the phone number or mailing and e-mail addresses of any of our authors. However, you may be able to make direct contact with an author if he or she has a website. An e-mail address can often be found under the Contact or FAQ section on a site.

So, I would email
AuthorContacts@harpercollins.com and ask if they still pass on mail to the guy you are looking for. They usually respond...
