When asking for an autograph, do I have to send a picture, or can I ask for one in the letter and the person will send it?

You don't have to - but it would improve your chances in getting a reply.

It also depends on the celebrity. Some celebrities won't sign authentically if you don't include a photo.

Ive seen a few celebrities include a photo of their own which i love - because they're normally exclusive/rare ones, i guess it depends.. maybe you could ask in the letter if they would be kind enough to add in a photo for you because you don't have one on hand? Im sending one out to Jon Bernthal without a photo because ive seen a lot of successes where he's sent back amazing rare photos, sometimes they didnt even ask for them! Guess it depends on the celebrity, maybe do some research on the successes and see if they've gotten one back.

Not necessarily. Some celebs do sign authentically even if you don't include a photo. In my experience, Amanda Seyfried does. But it is always recommended that you send your own picture to be signed, since it increases your chance to be responded. Hope this helps!

Yeah I like to send my own pics when I can (I like getting pics from Google or screenshots of specific characters from DVDs); for some celebrities, if I've done the research and know they send pics themselves (authentically) I just ask for one.

But as someone said, some celebs don't sign authentically if you don't send your own pic. Bill Cosby jumps to mind.
