I have seen autographs on ebay and other websites that come with a Certificate of Authenticity as proof that to autograph is real but out of curiosity is an autograph really worth more if you have one?

Just because it has a COA, doesn't make it real...

Not worth the paper it's printed on. YOU could make one.

As stated above, COA's are worthless. Give me about 2 minutes and I could create you the most believable looking COA imaginable. If you're looking for an autograph and you're wanting something to make you feel more comfortable about its authenticity, look for items that are PSA/DNA or JSA Authenticated. This mostly applies to sports items but they do authenticate non-sports items. Some people hate these guys, some love them...I personally think they do a decent job. Also, be familiar with the signature you're looking for.
