Hey guys,
Today I received an airmail letter from Great Britain (I live in the USA) but I found the envelope open and the contents missing. The letter also had no return address. Have any of you had experience with this? What did you do? Should I hold on to any hope of having my contents found. I did send an email to my local post office describing the problem.

Most likely the mail man stole it. My mail man however is nice and when packages or envelopes are too big, he delivers them to my door. I think you should wait for a reply from the post office but chances are you might not get anything back.

People always blame the mailman for stealing but its just as likely some other postal worker along the way stole the contents because it goes through alot of hands before the mailman gets it. If the seal wasnt closed properly or the flap came open its very likely someone looked inside and took what was inside because its very unlikely a item will just fall out and nobody see it fall out and put 2 and 2 together and put the loose item in the empty open envelope. I had this happen to me only once a few years ago i got back my sase and the person who had sent it forgot to seal the flap and of course it was empty. I do think alot of mail does get stolen by postal employees even though it is a federal crime that doesnt stop some people from taking things anyways because they know letter mail cant be traced because it has no tracking numbers so if they know they arent being watched they might take some and from my experiences with certain postal workers at 1 of the post offices in my town i know of 1 lady who steals mail because i have sent alot of things when shes working and they never arrived at the destinations but when other people were working they did arrive and i could just tell by how she acted she was stealing so i stopped going to that post office because of course i have no proof. I honestly believe every post office probably has at least 1 crook that could be a sorter or a mailman but thats just how it is and you hope most of your mail gets through but with autographs you never really know because you didnt know if it was coming back or not.

If it is the autograph I expect it was, it was an email request.

I will post a photo once I get my camera up and running

I sent an email to the local post office with a description of the envelope and situation, and asking for any advice, and if they find a letter or anything signed to me to please send it to my address.

I sent another email request explaining the situation so hopefully something will work out.
