Help with Photos and Stamps

This is my first post on the forum. I apologize if my question has already been answered.

I've been collecting autographs TTM since February 2013. I've been sending out 3x5 index cards, but I'd like to start sending photos. I have a few 4x6 photos, but I'm not sure of the proper way to send them. Should I use a traditional envelope with some small pieces of card stock to protect the photos. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, if I wanted to send out an 8x10, how many Forever stamps would it take to do that?

Welcome! I'm new to collecting autographs as well. Haven't gotten anything back yet, but it's only been a few weeks for me! Anyway, I have been printing 8x10s and mailing the photo, letter of request and a SASE in a large envelope (usually an 11x13 or so). That seems to work for me. I haven't placed cardboard in with the photo, but instead write "do not bend" on both envelopes. Hope that helped!
