I plan to send a large envelope with LOR and SAE.
Could I just put a large 1st class stamp on both the envelope's and send away.

Oh and this is not international.

Are you sending in the US? If so, if you have a scale, you can weigh your package, and then figure out how much postage you need by going to the USPS site, and then the "Calculate a price" page. I use this for both the outgoing envelope, and the self addressed one included. A note though, which I only just found out, much to my dismay, if you have a piece of cardboard or something in your envelope, to keep it from getting bent, you need to send it out as a "package", not a "large envelope". *Grumbles*

Here's the "Calculate a price" page link.

I suspect you are in the UK, and yes a 1st Class Large stamp is sufficient for an A4 envelope :)
