Postage from India

I'm interested in sending a picture to the Dalai Lama for a signature. Is there a source for buying Indian postage stamps? I checked out the Indian post office website but wasn't sure if I could buy off the website or how many stamps. Is US cash sent with the photo an option? Thank you.
