IRC Help Please

Unread post by Crazy_Kiss_Fan. »

So recently I've wanted to send some fan mail to Canada and England. So I went to my post office. The lady at the counter at first didn't know what an IRC was. So I told her what I used it for. Then she went to some lady. Who said they had some but they weren't authorized for sale. And that I wouldn't need any to send to other countries. I find that a bunch of bull. As I have bought IRC's in the past from here. This is the only post office in town. And I'm quite upset that I was told they didn't have any for sale. Though they clearly had some in a box that she brought out. I even went to the post office's website. And there's nothing on there for buying IRCs online.

What else should I do? How can I send my fanmail from the U.S. to Canada and England? Any ideas?

usps stopped selling IRC's earlier this year, they've been withdrawn from sale which is probably why you were told they weren't authorised for sale.
To get letters back from Canada and the UK you need to include their currency (paper) which can be gotten through a bank or travel agency, or their stamps. Canada Post will ship them to you via their website, for the UK you will have to look on eBay or in the Autograph Exchange/ Sale forum because several people from abroad have tried without success to purchase them from Royal Mail online (the UK Post Office). Some people send a few US $ and that has worked in some cases. In the UK our smallest note is £5.
If you have a browse a few threads here there have been a ton of people asking about international return postage which might help you further.

Okay so they could've at least said they stopped selling IRC's. I probably would've been a lot less upset about that one. But they didn't even say that.

And what kind of currency paper are you talking about? Like buying stamps online for U.K. and Canada. Or what? I'm slightly confused. And how does the sending a few U.S. money work then? Because I really want to get autographs from Ramin Karimlo (VV from Canada), Tom Hiddleston, Richard Armitage, Rhys Ifans, and a few others. But most of them are in U.K.

Currency: I mean going into a Bank or Travel Agent and purchasing foreign currency, such as a UK £5 note, to use as return postage. Just like you have 1, 5, 10 dollar bills we have a £5 note which is our smallest (sending coins in not recommended).

Buying stamps online: Going to the postal operators website (such as Canada Post) and purchasing stamps. Canada will ship them to you no problems but people trying to order from Royal Mail (UK post office) have had problems. In that case for UK stamps you would need to look on eBay or in the Autograph Sale/ Exchange section of the forum.

I don't know why sending US$ works, but have seen posts from other members saying they have had a success with this method.

As I said before there are a ton of topics on the same subject so having a search and read might help clear up some of the confusion.
