Okay, I know this question has probably been asked several times before, but I'm so confused and cannot seem to find a definitive answer. I've tried searching this forum and the USPS website, but clearly I'm looking in the wrong place.
I wish to send a letter to the US from the UK. However, the return postage is confusing me slightly. Would one $1.10 global forever stamp be enough to cover the postage on a 6x9" envelope containing just a 6x4" photo, or would I need to include more postage?
Any help would be gratefully received.
Thanks

Re: Help with US Stamps
Hi Chelsea, I send 6x9 envelopes and 6x4 photos and I use 2x Global Forever stamps for my SASE's. But that is just my personal preference and you should be fine with one

Think I'll use two just to be on the safe side.

Re: Help with US Stamps
Hi all. Sorry for the intrusion, but could either of you tell me where the best place to purchase these stamps from? I am wanting to send a 8x10 image to the states from the U.K and not sure where to get them. Also how many do you think is required for this size of parcel? Best regards and thanks.
Re: Help with US Stamps
I am sure that two 1.10 stamps on your SASE is overpaying!
Up to one ounce is just 1.10 and I often send 2 4x6 photos.
You could send twice as many letters if you would only send one international stamp on the envelope.

I am aware of that.BossC wrote:I am sure that two 1.10 stamps on your SASE is overpaying!![]()

However USPS has a range of surcharges, a clerk could decide my letter contains a rigid object, or the fact that I write "Do not bend" on all my requests could attract an additional fee.
After paying for US stamps I don't want to run the risk of my photos not making it back to me due to insufficient postage.
So I use two and am perfectly happy to do so thanks

When giving advice to others I always make sure to say 2 stamps is my personal preference but one should be fine.
Your info is out of date fyi it now costs $1.15 to send a global letter up to one ounce.

I think both of those cover your questions
