Help with Stamps

Hey, I finally got the money to start my autograph collector career, lol. But I've run into some problems already.
I am tryingt to buy some UK stamps, but I'm from Denmark and don't know how they work. Should I buy 1st class 2nd class or international stamps. My envelope will be C5 or under, does that help in any way? What is the difference betweem 1st and 2nd class stamps? What is better? Which stamps do you guys use when you send to the UK?

I think if you are sending letters abroad, it may be best to use international stamps with the "by air mail" sticker (or you can just write this on the envelope). I recently bought a few of these to send fan mail to the US soon.

As for UK stamps, I am not sure if you can use these to and from other countries - I haven't tried it before! but UK 1st class stamps are worth 60p and 2nd class around 50p roughly but the difference is the shipping time. 1st class will take 2-3 days and 2nd class between 3-5 days roughly.

Well, my plan was to send danish stamps on the letter to the UK, and then have the self adrressed and stamped letter (that goes back to me) have UK stamps. Is that not how you do it?

I'm sorry but I am not sure maybe ask your local post office or try using that way as a practise to see if the letter comes back as that is what I will be doing with America. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

As for stamps, we do not have a strictly "international stamp". You can buy 1st or 2nd which are worth £0.60 and £0.50, and use enough to cover the postage price, or if you wish fixed value stamps so for example stamps which show a value of £0.88p.

Personally I would use 1st/2nd because they retain the current value. So even with price rises (usually once a year here in April) your return item should get back to you.

Would a letter that weighs less than 50 grams only need 1 1st class stamp? And thanks for your answer and your help.

You will need to know roughly the weight of the return item and use the calculator provided (for value put "less than £20 and for delivery time choose 60 days).
Minimum airmail price from UK to Denmark is £0.88 for a postcard and as it gets heavier the price goes up. So you will definitely need more than one 1st class stamp.
